Developed in 1983 at the Nagano Fruit Tree Experiment Station in Suzaka (Japan), and released to the commercial market in 1999 under the name "Shinano Gold" in Japan, and "Yello!" in Europe, Asia, and Australia in 2011.
It has a more balanced sweetness, and higher crispness, than Golden Delicious, owing to the Senshu heritage, as well as a longer storage period of up to four months.
If you close your eyes you can taste a mix of banana and pineapple.
NOTE: I have only tried the apple as this variety is only available to consumers as commercial produce, and so have relied on others for information related to this variety.
This entry will be updated if I am ever able to get a tree.
