An antique apple with descriptions going back to the 1700's, its country of origin is hard to discern (with compelling evidence for both England and France).
Though not considered a great apple for fresh eating, it has been said that the tartness and astringency mellows substantially in storage, of which this apple has nearly 6 months of storage (one of the longest described!).
Notable as being the seed parent for the Granny Smith apple, it has strong green apple flavours, and great properties for cooking and baking.
NOTE: I have yet to try this apple directly, and so have relied on others for information related to this variety.
This entry will be updated as I gather new info/grow my own tree.
