Dorsett Golden Apple was first grown in New Providence, Bahamas. Gaining mainstream recognition when it was introduced to the United States in the early '60, becoming a mainstay for home growers across much of the southern United States due to its low chill requirement, and refreshing taste.

Seedlings of Dorsett Golden Apple typically show high levels of precociousness, flowering in as early as 2 years after sprouting, though more typically in their third year.

Parentage

There has been some speculation in regards to it real parentage, with not one, but two separate studies conducted throughout the 70's concluding that it was more likely a descendent of the Ein Shemer Apple (which strongly resembles the )
