Developed in Israel by Abba Stein on the  Ein Shemer kibbutz, with the specific aim of creating a low chill / tropical apple, Anna is the best known of the two named varieties (the other named eponymously Ein Shemer).

A third-year grafted Anna

The fruit is described as sweet (though uncomplicated), with crisp flesh. Being an early apple it does not store for even medium periods of time, and has been said to go "mealy" within days of picking.

Despite being studied with some keenness for it's highly precocious seedlings, and low chill requirements (see also: Dorsett Golden Apple), there are no released varieties that descend from Anna in commercial production.

NOTE: I have yet to try this apple directly, having only purchased it in 2021, and so have relied on others for information related to this variety.
This entry will be updated as the tree grows and bears.
